First Novel
Untitled novel I wrote when I was 12 or 13 years old!
I wrote my first novel on this manual typewriter when I was 12 or 13. The book was a direct result of The Other by Thomas Tryon, a novel I was obsessed with about twin boys who are left to their own devices during a summer while their mother mourns the loss of their father. The twist ending blew me away and I was so taken with the experience that I wrote my own twin story. I haven’t read either of these versions for a very long time so I can’t say how closely my story resembles The Other. But I’m sure there are similarities. 🙂

If not my first version, an early version. The manuscript ran 91 typed pages. There must have been another version somewhere because the edits I made on this page are not reflected in the version on the right.

I’m not sure how many versions I wrote of this book, but this version ran 132 typed pages! That seems pretty darn good for a 12 or 13-year old. This is how I spent a lot of my free time…reading and writing.
